A Lazy Day

Coldstar paced the moss-covered floor of her den, stopping every few moments to peer impatiently out of her den. She had sent Pitchfur out at sunhigh, and the great star had lowered considerably since his departure.
At last the pounding of paws could be heard from outside the camp, and the dark brown form of her deputy appeared, head held high. Coldstar beckoned to him when he was finished greeting Stormpaw, who had bounded up to him and begged him to fling a tight wad of grass she held in her jaws.
"What is it?" Pitchfur inquired, dipping his head -- both to enter Coldstar's den and to show respect.
The tabby leader blinked, offering him the last few bites of a fat thrush. "Nothing."
Pitchfur took the food, but didn't touch it. He looked at Coldstar curiously. "Then why did you call me?"
A small smile played across Coldstar's face. "Ah, my dear deputy, that's exactly why I called you. Everything's been so quiet for the past few moons. Not an attack, nor a harsh word at Gatherings. Could the other Clans be planning against us?"
"The other Clans have no reason to hold a grudge on us, Coldstar, if you'll excuse me for saying so. And it's not like there'll be a territory skirmish, you know."
This time Coldstar did not smile. "I know some cats hate CloudClan; select few groups have always hated us. But not even they have interfered lately."
Pitchfur stood silently for a moment, thinking. At last he gave a respectful nod to his leader and exited the den, as if to say that he'd think about it. Coldstar stood that way herself as he left, and finally left her chamber as well, letting the sun wash away all of her troubles.

Darkflower saw Coldstar leave her den at Pitchfur's tail. She crept forward and mewed a quiet greeting to her leader. "Coldstar, the Gathering is tomorrow night," she began. "I was just wondering if you were planning to invite Poppycloud, Frostwhisker, and me?" she asked.

ooc: Yes, I am having a Gathering tomorrow, all day... Sad, it'll just be you and me, lily (you'll always be my lily), but I'd like to have one anyways, sorta to start the feelings Clans have for each other.

bic//Coldstar shook the haze of suspicion from her mind, mewing a greeting to Darkflower. "Of course," she replied, carefully planning out the words so she wouldn't accidentally say something foolish. She was in one of those moods. "It'll be a small contingent, I'm afraid. You, Poppycloud, Frostwhisker, Stormpaw, Pitchfur, and me."
Upon hearing her name, the dappled gray apprentice callec Stormpaw leaped into the air, landing heavily next to Coldstar. "Gathering?" she squeaked, midnight-blue eyes shining.
Coldstar shook her head, smiling. "Not if you keep acting like that!"

Darkflower smiled. "Hey Stormpaw, you must've done something wonderful to be going to your first Gathering," she purred. She looked over to Coldstar. "I just hope it's large enough it doesn't give the other Clans any ideas," she muttered skeptically.
